The Possibilities are Endless at Fern Hill School
When Kelly and Gordon Dumesich began researching schools for their children, they say Fern Hill stood out as the best choice.
Relocating from the U.S., Kelly and Gordon wanted a school with a strong academic program that would foster a love of learning and provide opportunities to build confidence and respect. Fern Hill provided all of this and more.
“Fern Hill isn’t like other schools,” says Kelly. “What attracted us to the school then, and is still prevalent today, is the level of respect the children are taught. Respect for their peers, their teachers and for themselves.”
Now, three years later, Heidi is in Grade 8, Harrison is in Grade 6 and Jackson, aged 4, became a Fern Hill student when he started Preschool in September.
Kelly says that what happens at Fern Hill is really unparalleled and distinct. She says that even the very youngest students in preschool are experiencing all the benefits of what Fern Hill has to offer.
“Fern Hill provides so many unique opportunities for the students. This year, Heidi has participated in a Model UN and has performed onstage with the Canadian Tenors while Harry has been on several sports teams and is in the Jazz Band,” says Kelly.
Fern Hill teachers encourage their students in all their efforts. This support gives them the confidence to work hard, because success doesn’t go unnoticed.
“Fern Hill instills in the children the desire to be the best they can be. They have high expectations and set high standards for each child,” says Gordon.
Fern Hill believes in providing students with a well-rounded education that includes art, music, athletics, drama, French starting in Preschool and Foreign Language study including Mandarin, German and Spanish.
“We know that there are many factors families look at when choosing a school and we are proud to offer a dedicated faculty, a beautiful campus with top notch facilities and programs that offer an enriched and customized approach to education,” says Laura Beamish, Director of Admissions.
For Jackson, he just loves going to school, seeing his friends, singing French songs and watching his big sister and brother at assembly each morning.
“On Saturday mornings, he wakes up and is just terribly upset that there is no school. He just loves being there and would go seven days a week if he could.”
